Rainbow success of brothers summer waistcoat colours
Last minute date shift for Maybury summer party competing with train strikes, finally delivered a sunshine sizzler of success for the Maybury lodge summer picnic. Later June date saw Brethren and their partners succesfully arrive by train and tube to the heart of the City of London, in the shadow of Tower Bridge to celebrate one hundred and sixty years of the Maybury lodge number 969 on the floating garden in St Katherines Marina. A private space, a garden floating in the marina, boats all about and a giant canopy to shadow the heat of the sunshine.
Special birthday of 160 years of lodge. A Champagne reception greeted brethren and their partners. Sparkling start with a chocolate cake bake adorned with exploding candles marking the 160 years of lodge centre stage to the toast. The birthday cake was surrounded in rainbow colours of brethren’s summer waistcoats, the summer party rang out with three repeats of ‘Happy Birthday’ while the sparkling candles sizzled in a mini firework display of special year celebrations.
Centre of centre stage, Maybury brethren had pulled out the stops with their choice of summer waistcoats, matching bow ties to boot. Partners in summer colours. Summer party picnic proper, food followed in picnic theme with a feast of sandwiches supported with special vegetarian option salads alongside traditional sausages on sticks. Summer fruit puddings in the sunshine added to the cake. A modern summer picnic, all washed down with French rose’ and bottles of Spanish beer.
